Hello, I'm Owais, proud member of the RiDC panel.
I am also involved in a number of groups in East London.
RiDC is a fantastic charity for disabled people to get involved with – to do proper research to improve things. For me, it has been beneficial and interesting, and I’ve recommended the RiDC panel to other disabled people, telling them to join.
I enjoy playing sports with friends at Metro Blind Sport, I volunteer for London Vision, which supports blind and partially sighted people in London, and I'm also an active member of Beyond Sight Loss, a peer support group in Tower Hamlets.
In the past I played cricket as part of the Change Foundation, a charity that promotes sport and dance for young people. In 2017 I worked as an Active Together champion for Vision Redbridge.
For RiDC, I've carried out research assessing the services of a local care provider, which was really interesting. And recently, I've been at an RiDC workshop for people to give views and experiences on the ease of use of heating controls.
