RIDC currently has an official profile on the following social media channels:

Our social media content and channels are places for RIDC to share the work we do to support disabled and older people in the UK and to enable the public to join us to support our work.

They are also places where the public can participate in meaningful discussions or comments about the issues that affect disabled and older consumers based in the UK.

We value freedom of speech on our digital spaces. However, we want to ensure we foster a safe, open, friendly space where everyone feels free to express their opinions on the issues that matter to them, without harassing or causing hurt to others.

RIDC won’t tolerate behaviour within our social media channels or website that could be described as hate speech, trolling, spamming or bullying.

RIDC considers the following behaviour and content as unacceptable. We reserve the right to block, delete, or remove any comment, post, or content that:

  • is abusive, threatening, encourages violence or incites hatred
  • involves swearing, name-calling, personal attacks or other anti-social behaviour
  • includes video or images that our community may find distressing (graphic violence, for example)
  • is an attempt to sell or promote a product or event not associated with RIDC and our activities
  • is in a language other than English, as we can’t always vouch for the suitability of these posts
  • is racist, sexist, homophobic, or discriminates against a person’s religion, nationality or disability
  • is defamatory to a person or organisation

If a social media user persists in this behaviour we reserve the right to block or ban them from accessing our social media channel and, if necessary, report their behaviour to the relevant social media channel or the police, without warning.

What to do if you are concerned about a post or comment on a RIDC social media channel

We understand that social media is a 24/7 medium. However, we are do not have the resources to view every post as soon as it appears. If you are concerned about a social media post, please let us know by emailing [email protected]. If possible please send a link to, or a screenshot of, the post, comment or content in question.

RIDC cannot be held liable for comments shared by the public via any of our social media channels.
